Train schedules of the Forest Railway at Čierny Hron
The Forest Railway at Čierny Hron is plying three regular routes in 2022. All the routes start and end in Čierny Balog – the railway’s departure station. The individual routes will take you to places closely connected with the history of the Forest Railway.
Our fourth route from Šánske to Chvatimech is currently out of regular service due to the considerable wear and tear of the track and necessary repairs. Only service trains and extraordinary trains use this track for a special fare.
The train fares of the Forest Railway at Čierny Hron depend on the number of routes travelled. Train fares for extraordinary trains are decided upon agreement.
Green route to Vydrovska Valley and Forestry Open Air Museum (4 km)
The historical train will take you first through one of the most beautiful and unpolluted valleys in Slovakia, through the whole Forestry Open Air Museum. You can stop the journey as you wish, walk the trails of the Forestry Open Air Museum and take any of the subsequent trains to continue the journey or return. The train ticket is non-transferable but it is valid for the whole day. This route is operated by trains with diesel engines and open excursion cars. Prams, wheelchairs, dogs or bicycles pose no problem.

Blue route through a football field to Dobroč (4 km)
On this route, you can board the only train in the world that passes between a football field and a grandstand. You will have a 10-minute break at the end of the route close to playgrounds. Prams, wheelchairs, dogs or bicycles pose no problem. This route is operated by steam engines (on Wednesday, on Thursday, on Friday, on Saturday) during the high season.

The historical train will take you to the eastern end of the municipality of Čierny Balog. You will have a 10-minute break at the end of the route. Prams, wheelchairs, dogs or bicycles pose no problem. This route is operated by steam engines (on Wednesday, on Thursday, on Friday, on Saturday) during the high season.
